Maldives Visa: What You Need to Know
One of the best parts about planning a trip to the Maldives is the straightforward and welcoming visa policy. For tourists of all nationalities, the process is incredibly simple, allowing you to focus on planning your activities rather than dealing with complex paperwork.
Free 30-Day Tourist Visa on Arrival
The Maldives grants a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival to all visitors, regardless of their country of origin. This means you do not need to apply for a visa in advance. When you land at Velana International Airport (MLE), immigration officials will issue the visa, provided you meet the entry requirements.
Essential Entry Requirements
To receive your on-arrival visa, you must have the following:
- A passport with at least 1 month of validity from the date of expected departure.
- A confirmed pre-paid hotel booking at a registered tourist facility for the duration of your stay.
- Sufficient funds to last for the duration of your stay (defined as US$100 + US$50 per day).
- A confirmed onward/return ticket to your home country or country of residence.
- A completed Traveller Declaration form, submitted online via the IMUGA portal within 96 hours of your flight.
Visa Extensions
If you wish to stay longer than 30 days, you can apply for a visa extension for up to an additional 60 days. This application must be submitted to the Maldives Immigration office in Malé before your initial 30-day visa expires. The total duration of your stay cannot exceed 90 days.
Always double-check the latest regulations on the official Maldives Immigration website before your travels, as policies can change. Enjoy the simple entry process and get ready for paradise!
